By Sally-Ann Petchey

In her 2018 book Dances for a Princess, Sally-Ann Petchey presented research, explanations, contextual information, and instructions for dancing the pieces from Ignatius Sancho’s Cotillions &c. Humbly Dedicated to the Princes’s [sic] Royal (1776). In the videos on this page, Sally-Ann Petchey and her colleagues offer their reconstructions of these dances, together with explanations.

All the music is performed by Green Ginger—Meryl Thomson, Ian Thomson, and Cas Sloan (www.greengingerband.co.uk and www.greenginger.bandcamp.com)—and can be found at  https://greenginger.bandcamp.com/album/ignatius-sancho-cotillions-etc. The names of the dancers appear below each video.
